Status Audio HD One

I have been eyeing up these headphones for months now and now I finally decided to get them. It’s been more than a week since I’ve had these headphones and I can tell you now that they do not disappoint. They come in at £35 which is very reasonable price especially when you see the build quality and hear the sound quality.

Design/Build Quality

In terms of build quality, I would rate this an 8/10. It is very sturdy and looks very professional. This comes in 3 different colours, Matte black, black and red and just red. I really love the fact it has no logos. They have subtracted anything that’s unnecessary from the headphones and they focused more on the sound quality. These are not wireless headphones but it does come equipped with two detachable wires which only one of them comes with an inbuilt mic. Therefore, if the wire does get damaged, then you don’t need to worry because you can just buy a replacement 3.5mm cable. Another aspect of these headphones that I like is that it can fold. A unique bi-fold design collapses into a small form factor, ideal for travel and commuting.

Sound Quality

Status company says that their headphones have a V shaped sound. They stated “Significantly accentuated bass and high-end frequencies with recessed midrange. Often referred to as a “hyped” sound signature, music will be coloured for additional sonic energy, especially in the low-end and sub-bass range. Bass heads rejoice — this will deliver the drama you are looking for”. It comes equipped with 40mm drivers. This may not be your typical Bose headphones but the quality of the headphones overall is very good.

To test out the sound quality I listened to the song, The Weeknd – The Hills. This song is very bass heavy so I wanted to see whether the HD one could take on this song. Unfortunately, the HD One cannot handle the bass the same way Beats headphones do, so I was a bit disappointed.  However, this isn’t something that would stop me from using to these headphones. I have been using these for a few weeks now, taking it everywhere with me, even to the gym and I can say that these do not disappoint.

My only problem with these headphones is that if I want to put the volume to the max, everyone can hear what I’m listening to. So, imagine me listening to my guilty pleasure and people just looking at me like wtf??

The headphones comes equipped with two detachable cables, red and black. The black one comes with a built in mic. I put the mic to a test and started calling people. The quality of the mic was so poor as people could barely hear what I was saying. I would rate this feature a 3/10.

Would I recommend?

With the exceptional price and amazing build quality and looks of the headphones, I would recommend these headphones to everyone. For the price, you cannot go wrong. The sound quality of these headphones says it all. To make this better for me, I would want them to be more bass heavy. But overall, I would rate this an 8/10.
