As you guys know it was Black Friday a couple of weeks ago. There were some great deals but I picked these two products which I wanted and needed. I went for a battery power bank and Google Chromecast 2. With the iPhone 6s battery depleting slowly I realised that I needed a power bank to get my phone through the day. I’ve always wanted a Chromecast when it first came out because I wanted to stream my media seamlessly.
But the JMA team got the Amazon Fire Stick instead. They keep getting mad every time I use it so when I saw this deal for the Chromecast I had to get it (£16).
The brand name is called PNY and I got it for £10. It’s a 10400mAh power pack. It has two USB outputs, LED level indicators. This power pack can charge your device up to 6 times which is great because I wouldn’t need to worry about charging the power pack before I leave my house. The power pack does what every other power pack does (charges your device on the go). It’s not my first power pack but so far this product has done its job and I am satisfied with this purchase.
- Up to 6 charges
- 2 USB outputs
- Small & compact design
- Has a flashlight (don’t understand why you need a flashlight on a power pack)
- Doesn’t support quick charge
- Doesn’t come with a lightning cable (you need your own)
- Takes too long to re-charge up the power pack
Chromecast is a device that you plug into a TV/monitor HDMI port, which is powered by a USB cable. Using your smartphone or any device that supports casting, you can flawlessly stream your media content to your TV.
Chromecast 2 has had a major upgrade in terms of design. It went from a small HDMI stick to a hockey puck design. With its magnetic back on the HDMI it is very compact and can be taken anywhere easily. It has one micro USB port and a small HDMI cable attached to it. For the upgrade in design I would rate this an 8/10.

Chromecast 2 supports many apps that people use daily such as Netflix and Spotify. I use it for streaming music, watching shows and streaming live football. Its streaming capabilities are significantly better than the original Chromecast as this one is so much faster. Chromecast 2 compared to the Amazon Fire Stick is so much better; it’s much faster and has a better user interface in my opinion. However, the one thing I didn’t like is that it didn’t come with a remote like the Fire Stick did. I guess I wanted the apps pre-built in. Other than that, it’s an awesome device which I would recommend to everyone.
- Better looking design
- Great value for money
- New compatible apps
- Faster than the original Chromecast
- Sometimes the apps don’t connect
- No separate interface
- No 4K streaming (however, Google released a new Chromecast Ultra which supports 4K)
