Apple first introduced the lightning dock when the iPhone 6/6+ came out and ever since then they have introduced the same product with different colours.
When the iPhone 6s/6s+ came out they released 4 different colours which matched the colours of the phone. It comes in silver, gold, space grey and rose gold. Now with the iPhone 7/7+ coming out they introduced the black edition.
I have the space grey iPhone 6s so obviously I went with the space grey dock.
So how is this dock useful to you?
Well, you can use it to charge and sync any iPhone that has a lightning connector. But why buy a dock when you can use your charging cable? This product is ideal for tables and worktops or just simply to display the beauty of the iPhone. I use it for my desk set up and the fact that it sits upright I get to see my notifications coming in (lol but I always get aired).
The rear of the lightning dock has two different ports. One for the lightning port which allows you to use your existing lightning to USB cable to connect to a power source. The other is a 3.5 mm audio out jack. You can connect your headphones to this and listen to your music whilst your phone charges or you can connect it to speakers.
You don’t need to have the phone on charge in order to use the audio output which is really good in my opinion. Also, you don’t need to worry about the dock moving or slipping away as it has a rubberised texture at the bottom so it’s very stable.
Since this is an Apple product, it doesn’t come in cheap, coming in at £49. However, if you want the white dock, that is £39. These docks are not cheap, so if you’re on a budget there are many alternatives on Amazon for much cheaper.
I went for this model because it just compliments my phone and my set up well. The plain and simple look was what I was looking for and it just looks good on my desk.
