This summer I got my hands on the Proactiv+ kit that has been so famously advertised on TV lately. We’ve all seen it (I hope!) and it gives you SO much hope, making you believe your skin will look clean and radiant. Well, does it?
Keep reading to find out more.
SKIN SMOOTHING EXFOLIATOR
This is Step 1 of the Proactiv+ 3-step system.
It is advised that this should be used twice daily – so I did. If I’m being completely honest, it did take a while for some results to start showing. I can be quite impatient so I started to think this product was crap…
But after a few weeks of using it twice daily, as recommended, my skin actually began to clear up, though just a little. The marks on my face are still there, despite the adverts claiming they will go.
The exfoliator is clear in colour and so light that when you apply it to your face, it doesn’t even feel like you’ve applied anything. Sometimes, I’d end up using more product than necessary because of this, which is quite annoying as you can imagine.
I used my Deep Cleansing Brush to exfoliate my face, which I will review later on in this post.

It is advised that this should be used…
This toner is actually good, better than any other toners I have used. It didn’t irritate or aggravate my skin at all, or leave it with red marks all over like my toners in the past have. I absolutely love love lovee using it to help remove my make up. What I like to do is, remove all make up with make up wipes, and then use the toner on a cotton wool pad to remove any excess product that’s been left on my face.
It’s amazing! If I didn’t do this, the bristles on my cleansing brush would have turned yellow/brown from the excess make up that’s been left on my face – big no no! Always, always, alwayssss use toner!
My skin feels and looks so much more smoother after I’ve washed my face.

PORE TARGETING TREATMENT
This is advised to be used before you apply the Complexion Perfecting Hydrator (see below), applying to dampened skin. This just felt weird to me. It didn’t feel that nice on my skin, buttttttt, the results were good!
It really does target your pores, and reduces that oiliness from your face. I used this mostly around my T-zone, focussing on my nose mostly. This killed off any dead skin cells, reduce the oil and smoothened out my skin really well.
Although the results were great, the texture of it just put me off really bad, to make me not want to use it. It’s so thick and lumpy on your face. You’ve really got to get your fingers massaging your face to spread it everywhere evenly and well.
Loved this as part of the kit, but not something I’d buy itself to use on a daily basis.

COMPLEXION PERFECTING HYDRATOR
Proactiv+ has named this as the above but what it really is, is a moisturiser. I’m going to be blunt and honest with you here – I hated it. Every time I used it, I didn’t feel like my face was moisturised or hydrated.
They’ve advised to use it twice, once in the morning and once at night. So I did, and every time I did, I ended up rinsing it off again and using my usual moisturiser. Yes, it was that crap. It just felt so eurgh on my skin, like my skin was being pulled.
I don’t even know what else to say about this one ladies, honestly. Absolute let down – sigh.

SKIN PURIFYING MASK
Directions: Apply to dampened skin leave on for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Use up to 2-3 times a week.
And so I did…
I liked this. Not as much as the other masks I’ve used in the past, but this was nice. The gel is clear, so you don’t look like a coloured zombie when you apply this – not something you find with some masks. I ended up using more than I imagined on my face each time, simply because the formula isn’t that great.
The results however, are awesome! Your face is left feeling so clean and fresh and radiant. Oh and soft. Super soft. I’m all about the softness boy. If my skin isn’t feel soft as a baby’s bum then something is not right. Thumbs up for this one!

MARK FADING PADS
These pads are soo nice! So expensive but soo nice.
Usually I just buy any cheap pack of pads. I mean, they only have one job to do right? Soak in some toner and wipe over your face? Not that fancy pancy, so you don’t need to spend much on it. I have to admit, it’s so so soft, and so so lovely. These came as part of the kit, otherwise I wouldn’t specially go out and buy it.

DEEP CLEANSING BRUSH
I have four words for you about this cleansing brush – ABSOLUTELY FREGGIN WORTH IT!
Seriously, if you haven’t invested in a cleansing brush for your face, DO IT! It’s completely changed my skin cleansing game. Like honestly, my skin has never ever felt or looked the way it did back when I just used my hands to wash my face.
So, with this Proactiv+ Cleansing Brush, you have two speeds. I’d like to describe it as ‘fast’ and ‘super fast’. There is one button on the brush. One press will switch it on, and it’ll start on the fast speed. A second press will activate the super fast speed. Finally, the third press will switch it off. Now this is a feature I found quite irritating. I’d much rather prefer a different switch type. Like, a function to just push up and down, like on a blowdryer to get the different speeds. You with me?
With this came two brush heads. The main brush head is quite harsh on your skin. The bristles are extremely tough, but this helps with exfoliating so I didn’t mind it too much. Though, it does leave my face looking slightly red after a wash, but it’s all good.
So anyway, this brush is powered by AA batteries. Usually, I’d get pretty annoyed at battery powered products – we are all way to used to using fast-tech with chargers for everythaang! BUT, think about it. You’d have to charge it for ages (maybe 2 hours) and it’ll only last you approx 20mins? Kinda crappy don’t you think? So, I’d say batteries are a good way to go.
